About Us
Accessible computing is a volunteer-based online tech educational portal for visually impaired individuals to gain experience in learning assistive technologies. We believe that disability is not a medical impact, but rather a design impact.
For instance, a shopping mall is easily accessible to anyone without a disability, but a person with motor disability may face difficulties. However, if a shopping mall has a wheelchair ramp, there is no difference between a person with no disability and a person with a disability.
In a similar manner, a person without a disability can operate a computer using a mouse, while a person with a vision impairment may not be able to do so. If there is technology that reads the screen and allows all functionalities to be accessed through keyboard, then there is no difference between a mouse user and a keyboard user.
Accessible Computing focuses on familiarizing individuals with technology. We believe that individuals with blindness have a better understanding of the challenges they face daily, and technology can break down these limitations to enable them to live life independently. We always encourage individuals with blindness to learn and access assistive technologies to live life on their own terms.
Who We Are
Accessible Computing started its journey in 2017 as a small community and YouTube channel with the goal of educating individuals on using assistive technology with ease. We offer free tutorials on computer applications and Android apps with screen readers , publish articles on assistive technology , and provide online courses to develop accessible education.
We believe that education is the key to moving forward in life, and blindness should never be considered a disability. Instead, it can be viewed as a limitation. For example, a computer programmer may not be able to make a table, and a potter may not be able to make clay objects. Our limitation is that we cannot see, and nothing more than that.
To overcome this limitation, we must learn, just as a computer programmer must learn how to make a table. Similarly, a blind person must learn how to do all tasks without relying on their eyesight.
We have various
assistive technologies
available to solve this problem.
What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive technology is any technology that helps a disabled individual overcome their limitations. For example, a blind individual can use a computer and mobile device with ease using screen reader software. Screen readers allow individuals to do almost everything a sighted individual can do, with only minor limitations. Additionally, there are apps specifically designed for visually impaired individuals, such as Android apps that convert images to text, which can be read easily with a screen reader.

Our ServicesAccessible Computing is dedicated to providing information and resources for individuals with visual impairments. We offer a range of content, including:
- YouTube videos related to screen-reader and assistive technologies
- Technical articles on our website
- Online training courses on various subjects
All of our videos and articles are freely available to the public, while some of our premium courses require a fee. Our goal is to foster learning and provide a platform for individuals to expand their knowledge and understanding of assistive technologies.
VI Tech Academy
As part of our commitment to education, we have created the VI Tech Academy, a separate section of our platform dedicated to independent learning experiences. The VI Tech Academy provides access to all of our online courses, offering a comprehensive and accessible learning experience. For more information, please visit our VI Tech Academy page.
